01
AWARD & OPPORTUNITIES
Bringing reflection on the concept of the “feminine” into the university environment and turning it into an opportunity for discussion and critical exchange around the films submitted to the competition. The ALF Scientific Committee – in particular Luisa Comencini and Irene Magrelli – prepares reading sheets for 15 European films, released in Italian cinemas in 2024 and 2025 and/or screened at film festivals during the same period, capable of portraying the feminine and fostering dialogue on the theme, regardless of the gender of the screenwriter.
In collaboration with IULM University of Milan, the professors of the Master’s Degree Programme in TV, Cinema and New Media within the Faculty of Communication will invite the students of the Critical Writing Laboratory to select their own shortlist of five finalist films. After a feedback and discussion session with the students, the ALF Scientific Committee will announce the official shortlist of five finalists.
New this year: starting from this edition, our partner Cineteca di Milano will submit an out-of-competition film selected from its archive. This will give us the opportunity to discover or revisit, through a “feminine” lens, a title from the history of Italian or international cinema.
New this year: in order to promote the viewing of high-quality films that have not enjoyed wide circulation due to limited distribution or promotion, we have decided to select titles that, during their second week of release, had fewer than 150 prints in circulation or fewer than 3,000 total admissions.
