• All women screenwriters who are at least 18 years old at the time of the call opening are eligible to apply.
• Candidates must hold a degree or diploma from a Film School or University (any department, degree program, or Master’s), in Italy or abroad, or have previously published screenplays, texts, or stories.
• Group submissions are accepted, provided there is a lead applicant who meets the above requirements. If selected, the lead will work with the editor to finalize the submitted screenplay. Group participation is allowed only if the lead applicant is a woman.
• Each candidate or group may submit only one work. Submissions based on scripts that have already been turned into films or audiovisual productions, or that have previously received awards, are not eligible. Submitted screenplays and works must be unpublished and written in Italian. Works that have been published in whole or in part — in print, online, on demand, via self-publishing, or as an e-book — will be excluded. Adaptations of literary works, even if in the public domain, will not be considered, except for adaptations of works or publications by the applicant herself.

Each application must be completed and submitted via the APPLICATION FORM by 11:59 PM on September 30, 2025.

Candidates must upload three documents in PDF format, submitted anonymously (no names or surnames, only the title of the screenplay), using exclusively the online form.

Applications sent by email or in paper format will not be accepted.

Any co-authors may be listed in the participation form.

1. PITCH_title.PDF
A summary of up to 5 lines (about 500 characters including spaces) to present the story in an engaging and effective way.

2. TREATMENT_title.PDF
A document between 3 and 8 pages (1,800 characters including spaces per page), fully developing the story, the characters, and the narrative arc.
Required formatting for the Treatment:
Font: choose from Times New Roman, Calibri, or Courier New, size 12
Line spacing: 1.15 or 1.5
Margins: at least 2 cm on all sides

3. SCENE_title.PDF
One or more sequential scenes between 1 and 5 pages, to showcase style, tone, dialogue, and dramatic strength. For the scene, the use of screenwriting formatting software is highly recommended.

Submitting the documents is allowed exclusively through the completion of the online form and implies acceptance of the Rules of the Women Screenwriters Award – third edition.

The selection will take place in two phases:

Preliminary Selection: carried out by the ALF Premi Cinema committee and the story editors of Read My Script, based on the following criteria:

• Formatting and Italian grammar (1–5)
• Originality of the subject (1–5)
• Production potential (1–5)
• Fair and inclusive gender representation (1–5)
• Scene and dialogue (1–5)
• Narrative structure (1–5)
• Effectiveness of the cinematic genre conventions (1–5)

Each submission will be assigned an identification number, which will be communicated to the applicant in the confirmation email upon successful registration. At the end of the selection process, a table with the scores assigned for each criterion will be published on the website according to the assigned identification number.

Note: projects that do not comply with the rules set out in this regulation will not be deemed eligible or admitted to the competition, and therefore will not be included in the evaluation table published on the website at the end of the selection process.

The 5 finalist works will be announced on the website – www.alfpremicinema.it – on January 7, 2026. The finalists will gain access to an advanced training program with their own editorial tutor, lasting three months, at the end of which they must submit the completed screenplay for the final phase of the award.

Subsequently, the technical jury of the third edition, composed of eleven professionals from the industry (a writer whose book has been adapted into a film; a director; two screenwriters; two actresses; a creative producer; a female producer; a representative from Milano Pitch; an editor; a film critic) will convene to vote on the finalist screenplays.

All participants will have access, upon request, to a personalized consultation at the reduced cost of €60 (instead of the standard €89 fee), provided by the Read My Script team.

The consultation will take place via Zoom and will last 1 hour. It will include the analysis of:

• all the indicators on the evaluation form
• the strengths and weaknesses of the project
• its production and narrative potential
• possible editorial development paths
• market positioning strategies
